The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 was just unpacked today. And it is actually the biggest upgrade the Fold has received yet.
There’s a few things that Samsung worked on here to make the Fold 4 a bit more appealing. The phone itself is about 3mm wider than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. That allows for a slightly wider cover screen, and a more manageable aspect ratio on the larger internal display.
Somehow, Samsung was able to make the Galaxy Z Fold 4 weigh about 8 grams less than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. It’s still a heavy phone, however.
This is the most durable Fold yet
Every year, Samsung focuses on durability with its new foldables. Which given the fate of the first Galaxy Fold, that makes a lot of sense.
Samsung claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is now 45% stronger than the Fold 3 was. This is thanks to upgraded materials, and a stronger screen. It has Gorilla Glass Victus+ on-board which should also help with the S Pen. Once again, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is compatible with the S Pen. Both the S Pen Fold Edition and the S Pen Pro. As with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, they are sold separately and not included with the Fold 4.
One of the few complaints with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 was the cameras. Well, with the Fold 4, Samsung has upgraded those. It has a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 30x space zoom. That’s accompanied by a 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 50-megapixel wide lens.
Now on the front, the under-display-camera is back and improved as well. Samsung says that it can better blend in with your content. So it’s less of an eye-sore. But Samsung did not mention whether the actual quality was better, just yet. So we’ll have to wait to get our hands on a unit and see.

Pricing & Availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is going to be available starting on August 26. It’ll cost the same $1,799 as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 did. Which is rather impressive considering inflation is in double-digits this year, and most other smartphones releasing this fall are expecting price increases – including the iPhone.
Samsung will offer the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in Phantom Black, Graygreen and Beige colors.
