The default app grid that Pixel phones deliver may not suit your needs. The Pixel Launcher does offer you an option to change the app grid. Well, in this article, we’ll show you how to change the app grid in Android 12, for Pixel smartphones. Every Pixel phone that will get Android 12 will also get a new version of the Pixel Launcher, so the process should be the same on all of them. Third-party OEMs have their very own skins, so the procedure will likely be slightly different.
That being said, we’re showing the steps on the Pixel 4a, which has been updated to Android 12. The process is really simple, though the option is not located where you may think initially. In any case, read on in order to find out. Below you’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to change the app grid in Android 12, along with some screenshots to lead you.
How to change the app grid in Android 12
The first thing you need to do is place and hold a finger on an empty space on your homescreen. You need to have at least one spot free in order to do so. In my case, there’s a lot of space left, so I can do it almost wherever, as shown below.
After a couple of seconds, a pop-up menu will appear. From it, you should choose the “Wallpaper & style” option. Some may think the app grid settings are in the “Home settings” section (which is understandable), but they’re not.
A new menu will pop up for you, and you’ll need to scroll down to the “App grid” option. For me, the current setup is 5×5, which is the most the Pixel Launcher offers. Tap that option.
In the next menu, you’ll be able to choose between five different setups, 2×2, 3×3, 4×5, 4×4, and 5×5. Choose one of the options.
Once you tap on one of those options, the changed setup will appear above, just to show you what it will look like. If you like what you’re seeing, simply tap the “Apply” button at the bottom, as highlighted below.
