The time is upon us, as the PS5 is finally available to buy from a number of different retailers. Including Amazon, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Target just to name a few.
The cost of the console is $499 for the Disc Edition and $399 for the Digital Edition. Purchases are live as of November 12 for the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, and November 19 everywhere else.
You Can Buy The PS5 From These Retailers
Below you'll find a list of retailers where you can buy the PS5, along with the buttons to jump right to the necessary page to complete the purchase.
Amazon is probably the first place most people will think of to go. If you're already an Amazon Prime member, then you should get fast shipping too. Amazon will be selling both the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition.
Second to Amazon, Best Buy is always and has always been a faithful place to buy your video game consoles. It will also be selling both the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition, as well as all the official Sony accessories.
Walmart has proven to be one of the better retailers for next-gen consoles. It's splitting up stock and selling it at varying times throughout the day on launch day to give more people a chance to buy. Which could be a good reason to try here.
Target isn't likely to be the first place people go for their consoles or video game needs, but Target does sell the PS5 and some of its games and accessories. Don't ignore this retailer because it may be one of the outliers.
You could always go straight to the source, and buy your PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition directly from Sony. If you tend to get your PlayStation stuff here, then why change things up?
GameStop is another faithful retailer where you can pick up the PS5, and if you're able to secure the purchase, you should have the option to have it shipped or pick it up as a drive-up order.
Last on our list is Adorama. It's not your typical retailer for this kind of stuff but it is selling both the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition. So if you miss out from every other retailer, you could try here.
PS5 purchases on launch day are online only this year
As noted above there are a handful of different retail partners working with Sony where you can buy the PS5.
One thing worth noting is that Sony won't be doing any in-store sales of the PS5. Confirming that all sales of the next-gen console would be online. This means that on November 12, you can only purchase the PS5 from the online stores of each retailers.
There are more local and regional retailers that also may have some for sale online. So keep that in mind if you're considering trying to purchase one from a more offbeat source that may not be hit as hard.
Also worth noting is that some retailers are probably going to start sales at different times. Walmart for example will be splitting up its stock and selling groups of the consoles at varying times to spread things out.
Specifically, you can buy the PS5 from Walmart at 9AM, 12PM, 3PM, and 6PM pacific standard time on November 12. As for the exact times for all the other retailers, there doesn't seem to be any confirmation. With the Xbox Series X, many retailers started selling at midnight. So timing could be the same for the PS5 and you'll want to be on top of things. Keep an eye on all the retailers just to be sure.
What about PS5 accessories?
All or most of these retailers will have some accessories for the PS5 on sale. Some already have the official ones from Sony up for pre-order, and many people have already received their accessories.
Our PS5 HD Cam for example showed up November 9. If you're wanting to get your hands on accessories for the PS5, whether official from Sony or otherwise, you can check out our guide of the best PS5 accessories to get you started.
How long will consoles take to ship?
This is obviously something we can't answer with 100% certainty. But we can give you an idea.
After the Xbox Series X launch on November 10, we were able to secure the purchase of the Xbox Series X from Microsoft's online store. The unfortunate thing is that shipping is estimated to have the console arrive on December 23.
That doesn't mean that PS5 purchases will be the same. It does however provide a potential scenario. Of course, you'll know exactly how long things will take if you're able to complete your purchase as the retailer should tell you.
This also might serve as a good reason to try and complete the purchase at retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, or Walmart. It's more likely that those retailers will be ship units earlier. So that's worth keeping in mind.
Launch day and Black Friday purchase tips
Sales of the PS5 on launch day as well as Black Friday are going to be hectic. There's no two ways about it.
Sony did say early on though that it would have limited stock of the console for sale during the holiday season. So this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Unfortunately, that can make it fairly challenging to complete a purchase.
So here are some helpful tips to increase your chances of getting to buy a PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition from any of these retailers on either of these days. First, make a note of which retailers you plan to buy from. Once you have that all sorted, make sure to set up accounts for each one.
Then, make sure you're logged into those retailers prior to the times that sales are supposed to go live. Ten to fifteen minutes before should be sufficient but you can log in as early as you'd like. After accounts are set up, save all of the shipping and purchase information that you would normally have to type out. This means enter your shipping and purchase addresses, enter your payment information, and save it.
By doing this, you'll ensure that all of that information will be automatically filled in when it comes time to hit the buy button. Basically all you should have to do is add the console to your cart, then proceed. If you're logged in and all of the required details are saved to your account, these should populate immediately for you and then you can just continue to finalize the purchase.
This will be much quicker than typing everything out.
