Amazon has announced a new Kindle reader, the 2022 edition, following up on the 2019 model. The design is pretty much what you’d expect, but there’s only so much Amazon can do in that regard. It’s supposed to be truly simple to let you focus on the content. Remember, this is supposed to be a digital book of sorts.
The Amazon Kindle 2022 includes a noticeably better display, and more storage
Now, the Amazon Kindle 2022 has a 6-inch display with 300 PPI, which is a notable improvement. That display is also marked as “glare-free”. It also comes with a Type-C USB port, and includes 16GB of internal storage.
The company claims that the device can provide you with up to six weeks of reading battery life. Needless to say, that’s not bad at all. The device is 8mm thick, and it weighs 158 grams.
The Amazon Kindle 2022 comes with dark mode and adjustable front light, so that it’s easier for you to adapt to any lighting situation. It also comes with an X-Ray feature, which basically shows important info about people or places mentioned in the book. You’ll also get a dictionary here, which allows you to look up words without a problem.
The all-new Amazon Kindle comes in Black and Denim color options. It is priced at $99.99. Do note that new Kindle fabric covers are also here, and will be available in Black, Dark Emerald, Denim, and Rose colors. These will be sold separately, of course.
The Kindle Kids is also here with kid-friendly cover designs
Amazon also announced a new Kindle Kids reader, which is very similar to the regular one, but its design is adapted to kids. This one comes with a kid-friendly cover design, and it also brings one year of Amazon Kids+ subscription. There are three different kid-friendly cover designs up for grabs: Ocean Explorer, Space Whale, and Unicorn Valley.
Do note that each Kindle Kids device comes with a two-year worry-free guarantee, and that subscription we’ve mentioned earlier. The device will set you back $119.99, and it comes with 16GB of storage.
The new Amazon Kindle and Kindle Kids readers are already available to pre-order. They will start shipping to consumers on October 12.
