POCO has just announced its brand new flagships, the POCO F5 handsets. The company announced two smartphones as part of the series, the POCO F5 and POCO F5 Pro.
These two smartphones are the best POCO has to offer at the moment. They do offer a rather compelling set of specs, and look entirely different. That’s a bit surprising considering they’re a part of the same series, but there you have it.
The POCO F5 series is now official, but the two phones look completely different
The POCO F5 has flat sides, and that goes for its front and back side too. It has three separate camera islands on the back, and a flat display with a centered display camera hole up top.
The POCO F5 Pro, on the other hand, looks closer to other glass sandwich phones out there. It has a curved back side, a camera island in the top-left corner, and thin bezels with a centered display camera hole. Its sides are definitely not flat.
These two smartphones have the exact same camera setup. A 64-megapixel main camera (f/1.79 aperture, 1.4um pixel size) is backed by an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture), and a 2-megapixel macro camera (f/2.4 aperture). A single 16-megapixel camera (f/2.45 aperture) sits on the front.
67W charging is supported on both, while the ‘Pro’ model also supports wireless charging
Both devices also support 67W wired charging, and ship with a charging brick. The ‘Pro’ model does support 30W wireless charging too, however, unlike the vanilla model. The POCO F5 includes a 5,000mAh battery, while the ‘Pro’ unit has a 5,160mAh battery.
You will find a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED display on both smartphones, but they’re not the same. The vanilla model offers a fullHD+ resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. That panel is protected by the Gorilla Glass 5, and it goes up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness.
The POCO F5 Pro, on the other hand, has a 6.67-inch WQHD+ flat AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 480Hz touch sampling rate. This panel is also protected by the Gorilla Glass 5, but it gets up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness.
The POCO F5 Pro has a more powerful processor, while both offer up to 12GB of RAM
The POCO F5 is fueled by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processor, while the POCO F5 Pro comes with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. Dynamic RAM expansion 3.0 feature is supported on both, as is LiquidCool Technology 2.0.
Both smartphones offer up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Both 8GB and 12GB RAM variants of the POCO F5 come with 256GB of storage, while the ‘Pro’ model goes up to 512GB of storage (UFS 3.1 in both cases).
The regular model even has an audio jack
5G connectivity is supported by both phones, while both of them ship with Android 13 and MIUI 14 on top of it. The POCO F5 has a side-facing fingerprint scanner, while the ‘Pro’ model includes an in-display one (optical). An IR blaster is included on both phones, as are stereo speakers. Both phones are also IP53 certified, while only the POCO F5 has an audio jack.
The POCO F5 measures 161.11 x 74.95 x 7.9mm, and weighs 181 grams. It comes in Black, Blue, and White colors. The POCO F5 Pro measures 162.78 x 75.44 x 8.59mm, and weighs 204 grams. It is available in Black and White colors.
We still don’t know the price tags for either of these two phones, but we’ll update the article soon, as POCO is expected to announce them today.
