Yesterday, the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s cover display leaked in an image. That is the first time we’ve seen it, actually. Samsung is going with a rather odd design this time around, which we’ll talk about in a second. The thing is, now we know the exact size of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 cover display, thanks to a tipster.

The exact size of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 cover display has been revealed

The information got shared by Ice Universe, a well-known tipster. He says that the phone’s cover display will measure 3.4 inches. We knew that it will be between 3 and 4 inches, but we never knew the exact measurement.

The tipster also added that it will be “close to the ratio of 1:1”, so it will almost be a square panel. As you can see in the image below, which surfaced yesterday, the top-left corner of this display is placed lower than the top-right portion.

Why is that? Well, because of the cameras. Samsung didn’t want to cut into the camera real estate, as that would look a bit odd. That is something that Motorola is planning to do, though, it would seem.

This display is almost twice as big as the panel in the Flip 4

Needless to say, this panel is a lot larger than the one on the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 features a 1.9-inch cover display. This display is not twice as large, but it’s almost there. It’s even larger than the 3.26-inch cover display the OPPO Find N2 Flip features.

Let’s hope Samsung will allow us to do much more with that display, though. It would be nice to be able to control the entire device via that panel, and not only check notifications, widgets, and so on. That is not as likely, but there’s always hope.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will launch in August this year, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5, its larger sibling. If you’d like to know more about the device check out our preview.
