Last week, a couple of seemingly-official images surfaced, claiming that Huawei is planning to launch new flagships on March 23. It turns out those were accurate. The company has now confirmed that the Huawei P60 series and Mate X3 foldable will be coming on March 23.
The Huawei P60 & Mate X3 flagships are coming on March 23
The company confirmed as much via Weibo, by releasing an official poster (shown below). The event will start at 2:30 PM China time / 7:30 AM CET / 6:30 AM BST/ 1:30 AM EST / 10:30 PM PST (March 22).
As you can see in the provided poster, there are two shapes included here. You’ll see a half-circle at the top, and a part of what seems to be a triangle at the bottom. We’re really not sure what’s this supposed to signalize, though.
Two flagship phones are coming, perhaps these will be the shapes of their camera islands, or something like that. That is just a wild guess, as the entire backdrop of an image is water, and the shapes themselves are made out of waves. So, it’s a reach, but it could signalize a camera island.
The Huawei P60 series is coming with at least a couple of devices. We didn’t really see any concrete leaks just yet, so we cannot be sure. The top-end model, however, will probably be called the Huawei P60 Pro or Pro+.
Next-gen XMAGE camera system is expected
That handset will almost certainly utilize Huawei’s XMAGE camera system, and an improved one compared to the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. The Mate 50 Pro is a fantastic camera smartphone, so we do have high hopes for the P60 series flagship.
The Huawei Mate X3, on the other hand, will become the company’s new foldable smartphone. This one will fold inwards, like the Galaxy Z Fold 4, it will be a book-style foldable phone.
Neither of the two phones will include Google services, though. They will both ship with Huawei’s services out of the box.
