Samsung’s latest gaming monitor, the Odyssey OLED G8, is now up for sale in the US, and it promises to be a standout option for consumers. Samsung announced the monitor back during IFA last year as one of its latest gaming monitor offerings to come. Although it was initially set to launch sometime in Q4 of 2022.
The monitor was so compelling, we gave it our Best Of IFA 2022 award. But what makes it so deserving? For starters, it’s Samsung’s first OLED gaming monitor. But more than that, it’s packed with features and carries a stylish design. Making for an all-around great package if you’re looking for a high-end monitor for gaming. All of that comes at a price though. The Odyssey OLED G8 comes in at a whopping $1,499.99. To put that into perspective, you can now buy Samsung’s original 49-inch Odyssey G9 monitor for less than that.
The Odyssey OLED G8 is available directly from Samsung
$1,499 is a lot for a gaming monitor, but that doesn’t mean the price wouldn’t be well spent. Depending on what you’re looking for. While some people tend to gravitate towards bigger monitors, the OLED G8 gives you 34-inches of screen space in an ultrawide format. So it’s plenty big without sacrificing to much surface area on your desk. It also features a 175Hz refresh rate, and an insanely low 0.3ms response time.
The OLED panel also means you’ll get vivid colors and really deep blacks. The Odyssey OLED G8 is available directly from Samsung but it will also be available from select retailers in the US. Such as Best Buy. Although it seems to be out of stock on Best Buy’s website. So for now, you’ll probably have to buy from Samsung if you were looking to pick this up.
If you want something with a faster refresh rate or a larger screen, this is probably not the monitor for you. But if a 34-inch ultrawide panel is your sweet spot, you could do much worse than the Odyssey OLED G8.
