Android 13 lands on Samsung's Galaxy A71 5G in the US

02 Samsung Galaxy A71 5G Display Review AH 2020

Samsung‘s Galaxy A71 5G is getting Android 13 in the US. The big Android update is rolling out to users stateside about a month after the international markets. Carrier-locked units on Sprint and T-Mobile’s networks are picking up the new release. A wider rollout should follow soon.

The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy A71 5G in the US comes with firmware version A716USQU7FVL3 (via). It comes bundled with the November 2022 security patch. It’s a fairly old security release now that Samsung has already updated several Galaxy models to the January 2023 SMR (Security Maintenance Release). However, this update is primarily about Android 13, so it shouldn’t be a problem for anyone.

The latest versions of Android and Samsung’s One UI custom skin bring a host of goodies to your Galaxy smartphone. The Korean firm has given a visual refresh to the interface with smoother animations, bolder app icons, new customizations, and more. There are also several new features and improvements across the system. Install the new update on your Galaxy A71 5G and start exploring the goodies.

This is the final major Android update for the Galaxy A71 5G

Samsung released the Galaxy A71 5G in June 2020 with Android 10 onboard. Over the past two and a half years since its market debut, the device has picked up updates to Android 11, Android 12, and now, Android 13. Since the Korean firm only promised three generations of Android upgrades for the handset, it’s done getting those all. It won’t pick up Android 14. Security updates will continue to come once every few months at least until June next year.

If you’re using this phone and planning to upgrade to a new model from the same series, let us tell you that there will be no Galaxy A74 5G this year. Samsung is reportedly discontinuing this lineup to make room for its Fan Edition (FE) affordable flagships. The Galaxy A54 5G will be its costliest and most feature-rich mid-range model. It may very well be the company’s best value offering as well. The Galaxy A5x lineup has always been worthy of that title.

Anyways, all Galaxy A71 5G users in the US will soon get Android 13 if they haven’t already. You can check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update and tapping on Download and install. Since it’s a major update, we advise you to connect the phone to s stable Wi-Fi network before downloading. It’s also a safe practice to back up important files before a major Android upgrade.
