Samsung is rapidly rolling out the Android 13 update to its devices. But it hasn’t forgotten the devices that aren’t eligible for the new Android version or are not on the priority list. The company is seeding the latest security patch to those. The Galaxy S10 series and the Galaxy Tab Active 3 are picking up the November security update.

As of this writing, the November SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for the Galaxy S10 series is rolling out to users in Europe. The update is already live in several countries in the region, including Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands. The new security patch bears firmware version G970FXXSGHVK1 for the Galaxy S10e. The Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ should also get the update with an identical build number. But the new SMR is not yet live for those two models, so we can’t confirm that just yet.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab Active 3 is getting the November SMR in Latin America, starting with Mexico, SamMobile reports. The new firmware version for the LTE variant of this rugged Samsung tablet is T575XXS3DVK2. A wider rollout for it, as well as the Galaxy S10 series, should follow in the coming days. The Korean firm should also update the Wi-Fi model to a security patch soon.

The latest updates for Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series and the Galaxy Tab Active 3 doesn’t bring any new feature. The company is only seeding this month’s vulnerability fixes to the devices. It recently confirmed that the new SMR contains patches for more than 60 vulnerabilities. These include Android OS issues patched by Google as well as several Galaxy-specific privacy and security flaws. A handful of vulnerabilities patched this month were labeled “critical” by Samsung and Google.

The Galaxy S10 series will not get the Android 13 update

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series flagships have already received their last major Android OS update. Debuted with Android 9 Pie in early 2019, the phones picked up Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12in their lifetime. They are not eligible for the Android 13 update. Going forward, the phones will only get security updates until sometime in 2023.

The Galaxy Tab Active 3, meanwhile, will get Android 13. The rugged tablet arrived in 2020 running Android 10 out of the box. It has one more major Android OS update left. Samsung’s Android 13 roadmap says the device will get the new Android version early next year. We will let you know when the rollout begins.
