After announcing the Pixel 6a in May at Google I/O, the company is now all set to open pre-orders for its latest mid-ranger. The device will go on pre-order this Thursday, July 21st. Ahead of that, it is listed on Amazon in all three color options, as well as price and specs.

No, Amazon hasn’t prematurely started taking pre-orders for the Pixel 6a. The listings still mention the “July 21 PDT” for that. But the retail biggie now lets you subscribe for “release updates” so you can grab a unit as soon as it’s available. It will send you notifications with “details about price and release date, as well as reminders.”

The Pixel 6a, which is priced at $449, will come in Chalk, Charcoal, and Sage colors. Amazon will sell them all, with its landing pages highlighting the device’s 5G cellular connectivity, 12-megapixel camera, and a 24-hour battery. The device features two 12-megapixel cameras on the back. The front camera is an 8-megapixel sensor. The 24-hour battery that Google is claiming is a 4,410mAh unit that supports 18W fast wired charging. There’s no wireless charging here.

Other highlights of the Pixel 6a include a 6.1-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate, the Pixel-exclusive Google Tensor processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and Android 12. As Amazon listings mention, the device will come “unlocked for all carriers,” giving you the “flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan”. Note that you can also buy the phone from Verizon, but it will cost $499 ($50 more) due to mmWave 5G support.

Pixel 6a will also arrive in several other countries

Google last year launched the Pixel 5a only in the US and Japan. But the company is expanding the availability of its 2022 mid-range offering to numerous other markets. Perhaps the Pixel 6a will be available in more markets than the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro flagships. In addition to the 12 countries where the latter two went on sale — Canada, Germany, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, the UK, and the US — the upcoming phone will also be available in India.

However, India will get the Pixel 6a a little later than the rest of the markets, where pre-orders begin on July 12. General sales in those 12 countries will begin on July 28.
