Samsung‘s highly-anticipated fourth-gen foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 are rapidly nearing their launch. We are expecting the duo to go official in the second week of August. In preparation for that, the Korean firm has obtained the FCC certificate for the former. The clamshell foldable should also soon pick up the FCC approval.

The FCC has certified the GalaxyZ  Fold 4 with the model number SM-F936U, which we have known about for a long. The documents don’t reveal anything that the mountain of leaks over the past couple of months hasn’t already revealed. We can find references to 5G cellular connectivity, 6GHz Wi-Fi, wireless power transfer, Bluetooth, and UWB (ultra-wideband) technologies.

The documents also contain schematics of the Galaxy Z Fold 4. But they don’t appear to accurately represent the shape and size of the device, particularly when unfolded. The device is shown as narrow and tall, which contradicts all the leaks and rumors that have suggested a squarer foldable. Nonetheless, the schematics are supposed to tell the positioning of the mmWave antennas and they do that efficiently. For the uninitiated, mmWave signals find it tough to pass obstacles. So manufacturers have to strategically place them in devices.

First spotted by MySmartPrice, the FCC listing also hints at S Pen support. Of course, this isn’t something new or unheard of. However, this certification is another indication that Samsung is nearing the launch of its next-gen foldables. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 are rumored to go official on August 10. The Galaxy Watch 5 series and the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro TWS earbuds should also come alongside the two foldables.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 will bring plenty of upgrades

As said earlier, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has been subject to a myriad of leaks. Pretty much everything you need to know about the upcoming Samsung foldable is known already. We are expecting improved internals as well as a more durable and comfortable build. From a more scratch-resistant flexible screen and improved hinge to more powerful cameras and a lighter body, there’s plenty to talk about here.

You can find everything leaked about the Galaxy Z Fold 4 so far in our Preview here. We will regularly update the article to add any new information that emerges before Samsung officially unveils the phone. Watch out for an official announcement from the company regarding the device’s launch. The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked could be an offline event.
