Google may be working on a third high-end Pixel 7 smartphone, according to a new report. This information comes from 9to5Google, as some evidence of a third phone has been found. Let’s first talk about some codenames that the source spotted.

In addition to codenames for the 2022 Pixel generation, the source dug up two additional codenames. Those two codenames are Felix and Lynx. One likely relates to the Pixel 7a, but what about the other?

Is it possible it’s the Pixel Notepad, or whatever the company’s upcoming foldable ends up being called? Well, yes, it is. That’s not all, though. The second part of the report is even more interesting.

A third high-end Pixel 7 phone may be in the works

9to5Google discovered that Google is preparing support for a completely different display, one codenamed “G10”. In addition to the ‘C10’ and ‘P10’, which we already knew about. The ‘C10’ relates to the Pixel 7 Pro (Cheetah), while the ‘P10’ relates to the Pixel 7 (Panther).

What about the ‘G10’, though? Well, the device is surrounded by Exynos references, so the source believes it will be fueled by a Tensor SoC. So, this is likely a Pixel device.

It doesn’t seem to be a part of the A series smartphones, and it will be utilizing a 120Hz display. We’re looking at a QHD+ (3120 x 1440) display made by BOE here, which has a physical size of 71 x 155mm. So, this is not a Pixel tablet.

That device seems to be unnecessary in the general scheme of things

This is not much to go on, but the source believes this device will be quite similar to the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. So, is the third Pixel 7 handset coming? Well, it’s possible, though we really don’t know where will it fit in.

The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be immensely powerful devices, as were their predecessors. Considering the display size, this is not a small phone, so a compact flagship is out of the question.

Truth be said, a third Pixel 7 phone doesn’t seem to be necessary, especially at that size. The Pixel 7 and 7 Pro won’t exactly be small, though the difference between them will be larger than it was between the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.

This mysterious handset may not even launch, of course, we’ll have to wait and see. It is quite interesting, though.
