Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Review AM AH 02

Samsung is rolling out an update to its relatively new flagship camera app Expert RAW. It improves the low-light photography capabilities of the app. The new version ( is now available to download from the Galaxy Store.

The official changelog for this update doesn’t mention anything apart from “clarity enhancements in extreme low-light conditions”. So this appears to be a minor update. But if Expert RAW is your go-to camera app on your Galaxy smartphone, you might want to install the new version quickly to stay on top of the game. We have provided a direct link to the Galaxy Store listing for the app at the end of this article.

Samsung pushes another update to the Expert RAW app

Samsung launched the Expert RAW app in beta in November last year. As the name suggests, it lets you capture photos in RAW format. Additionally, you get professional-grade photography features with finer controls over various parameters such as shutter speed, ISO, and more. These controls are available for all camera lenses, so you can decide what you want your shot to look like. This app considerably improves the image quality as compared to the built-in camera app of your phone.

Limited to the Galaxy S21 Ultra at launch, Samsung recently started rolling out Expert RAW to more flagship Galaxy smartphones. The app exited the beta phase late in February and immediately became available for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. It is expected to be available for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 later this month. The Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 10 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will also receive support for the app by June 2022.

All this while, Samsung is continually improving the functionalities of the Expert RAW app. It had quite a few issues early on, which is expected with a new software product. But the Korean brand was quick to address those. It followed up with a major update in January that further squashed some bugs and improved the overall stability of the app. The update also introduced a few new features, including High Efficiency RAW. This feature lets you capture RAW images in high-efficiency format to save storage space.
