WhatsApp Will Let You Play Voice Messages In The Background

Whatsapp AH NS 03

WhatsApp will soon let you play voice messages in the background. The latest beta update (version for the popular instant messaging app adds the new feature. It should be available in the stable version in the coming weeks.

This feature has been in development for several months now. The ever-reliable WhatsApp insiders at WABetaInfo first reported about it back in October 2021. In January this year, WhatsApp beta for iOS picked up the ability. The global voice note player then rolled out to the WhatsApp Desktop beta in February. Now, Android users are gaining it as well.

Of course, the feature is still in beta, so not everyone will have access to it just yet. Even some Android users with WhatsApp beta version will not see the new voice note player right away. The company may have enabled the feature to select test accounts. If you’re lucky enough, you could get it in the coming days. Otherwise, wait until the feature arrives in the stable version of the app that you can download from the Google Play Store.

The global voice note player is one of the most useful features WhatsApp has added in recent months. As of now, you need to patiently sit through a long voice note from a friend if you want to listen to it. You can’t go back and open some other conversation. There’s no question of switching to another app.

Thankfully, WhatsApp is changing that. You will now be able to continue your conversations with someone else while a voice note or any other audio file plays behind the scenes. A player bar along the top of the app will let you pause or stop the playback. Considering the functionality of this feature, it should have been around for a long time. Nevertheless, it’s almost here.

WhatsApp adds another useful audio feature

The global voice note player is the latest among a string of new voice notes-related features that WhatsApp has added lately. You can now preview voice messages before sending them and even control the playback speed of audio files. WhatsApp also now shows a waveform for audio playback in chats, like on Telegram. Background playback support for audio files is another new useful feature coming to the popular messaging app.

As said before, this feature is currently available to select beta testers. If you want to try your luck, you can enroll in WhatsApp beta here. Click the button below to download the latest stable version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store.
