UPDATE: It seems like the OnePlus ‘Oscar’ is not a flagship at all. Max Jambor, a very reliable source, especially when it comes to OnePlus news, said that it’s actually a codename for the OnePlus Nord CE2 Lite.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: According to a new report, OnePlus is planning to announce its ‘Oscar’ flagship smartphone in Q2 2022. No, this is not the OnePlus 10 Pro, but it could be the regular OnePlus 10, though.

The source notes that this phone will be a part of OnePlus’ numbered series, in other words, it will be part of its flagship lineup (9, 9 Pro, 10, 10 Pro, etc.). The device is expected to arrive at some point between April and June.

The OnePlus ‘Oscar’ is coming, it could be the regular OnePlus 10

Now, the source is speculating this is the regular OnePlus 10. The OnePlus 10 Pro launched in China only, for now, though it is coming to global markets. The company didn’t announce the OnePlus 10, nor did we hear much about it.

The phone is still expected to launch at some point, so this could be it. Do note that OnePlus is also rumored to announce a flagship in the second half of the year, likely in late Q3 or Q4. It is rumored to announce the ‘Ultra’ flagship.

So, this phone in Q2 definitely is not it. The ‘Ultra’ phone will likely ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, or whatever Qualcomm ends up calling it. That chip is said to be manufactured by TSMC.

Not much info leaked about the regular OnePlus 10

Not much info leaked about the OnePlus 10, unfortunately. If previous years are any indication, though, the phone will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as well. It will be quite powerful, but inferior to its sibling.

The phone could arrive with a fullHD+ display, though still a 120Hz one. It will likely include plenty of RAM, and UFS 3.1 flash storage. Extremely fast charging is expected, and likely wireless charging as well.

It remains to be seen what camera setup will OnePlus utilize here. It needs to differentiate between the two devices somehow. More info regarding this phone is expected to surface soon.
