Moto G Stylus is getting a 2022 refresh, with a refocus on ensuring better stylus support, battery life, and camera functionality. In fact, the new 6.8-inch Max Vision FHD+ panel may be the same size as its predecessor. But it packs a 90Hz refresh rate, ensuring a smoother experience when using the garaged stylus.
Conversely, the non-removable 5,000mAh battery can, according to the company, last as long as two days on a charge. And the new 50-megapixel quad pixel camera captures up to 4-times the light in low-light scenarios. While the 118-degree ultra-wide and Macro Vision lens capture 4-times the area and up to 5-times closer.
What else is happening with Moto G Stylus?
In terms of other specs, there are a few areas where Moto G Stylus 2022 won’t keep up with its predecessor. Namely, that’s on the connectivity front. Rather than packing in 5G support, the company is focusing on a solid 4G connected experience. That’s unsurprising, since standard 5G is, at its most widely distributed, not a whole lot faster than 4G.
Moto G Stylus also comes with a chipset that’s ever so slightly less powerful on the computing front. That’s because the company is opting for a MediaTek Helio G88 this year. As compared to last year’s Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. However, the newer chip is somewhat faster on the GPU front under benchmarks.
So it will be interesting to see how it stacks up, coupled with a reasonable up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. Particularly since stylus support will undoubtedly perform better with a better GPU. Storage is expandable via a microSD card up to 512GB.
