CES 2022 is here, and that means plenty of new TVs being announced. But what has most of our attention is the new G2 series of OLED TVs from LG. That is because it is focused at gamers, but also comes in as small as 42-inches. Making it a really great monitor for your desk.
Now, LG came out with a 48-inch OLED TV last year that many tried to use as a monitor, but it just didn’t work. There is now a smaller version that should work nicely on your desk.
The LG G2 is the brightest OLED TV yet from the company. It’s able to achieve a brightness increase of about 20% when compared to the C2 – also announced today.
There’s a new processor inside the LG OLED TVs, the new Gen 5 Alpha 9 processor. Which will allow for upscaling to be improved to eliminate extra steps between less than 4K and 4K resolution. Dynamic tone mapping had about 10 times the number of sampling blocks as well.
Both the C2 and G2 models offer up Variable Refresh Rate and 4K 120Hz gaming. Making them perfect for both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.
LG OLED TVs come in up to 97-inch sizes!
LG is also showing off the biggest OLED TV yet, at 97-inches. TCL did announce a 98-inch TV, but that was QLED and not OLED. This is part of the LG C2 series, and is likely going to be one that everyone will dream about.
So OLEDs this year will vary in size from the 42-inch G2 to the 97-inch C2.
On top of that, there are new 8K models in the Z2 lineup. It is now available as an 88-inch 8K TV that is also wall-mountable. An 8K OLED TV is going to look amazing, even though there is very few videos and content available in 8K right now.
Finally, we have the entry-level A2 and B2 models, which use the lesser Gen 5 Alpha 7 processor. The B2 does 120Hz while the A2 does 60Hz, and the only OLED that is 60Hz for 2022.
