The version 2.4 update for Genshin Impact is just over a week away. And with it, players are getting new characters to acquire as well as a new area to explore. There will also be a new event to participate in for those that want the chance to claim some new and festive rewards.
The Genshin Impact 2.4 update, called The Lantern Rite, will land on January 5. And offers players a chance to acquire a 4-star Liyue character for free. miHoYo doesn’t mention which characters will be included, or if the character awarded to each player is random. So it is possible that players will get the chance to choose which 4-star character they want from this event.
Genshin Impact update 2.4 adds two more Inazuma characters
When it comes to the new characters being added to the game, there is one 5-star character and one 4-star character. Like always, these will be available through Wish events. Which means you’ll have to either spend some of your primogems or Intertwined Fates for a chance to get them.
Keep in mind that both characters will be available in their own events as well. The 5-star character, named Shenhe, wields a polearm and has the power of Cryo. Her main role is support, as she has the ability to boost the Cryo damage of other party members in addition to the damage of party members’ normal and charged attacks or their Elemental Skills and Elemental Bursts.
The 4-star character is named Yun Jin and also uses a polearm, but instead of Cryo she has the power of Geo. With it she can buff the normal attacks of party members based on her defense. Making her another great support option.
Explore a new underwater floating island
Genshin Impact offers players a vast world to explore. And miHoYo is only just getting started with how vast it will be. While no new city states are being added yet, a new Inazuma island will be available with this patch. Enkanomiya will be located beneath the ocean and is shrouded in darkness.
To traverse this new area, players will need to tap into the power of an artificial sun to see. Though players may not like what they find. As Enkanomiya is rife with new and dangerous enemies. Including Bathysmal Vishaps and the Abyss Lector.
The update will be live next week on all platforms, and players can use the cross-save feature to swap between platforms at their leisure.
