Although Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3 in August, there’s already speculation about the features of their successors. According to a new rumor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could miss out on a built-in S Pen holder.
The revelation came from Naver and was reported by FrontTron on Twitter, claiming that early prototypes of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 don’t feature an S Pen holster. The holster is absent on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, so it was always optimistic to assume the feature will make its way to the successor in 2022.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 will launch in August 2022 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 4
Samsung usually carries out a thorough process of developing multiple device prototypes before signing off on the final design. So it’s still early days for us to be entirely sure about this. It’s worth noting that Samsung could make some crucial changes before agreeing on the design. The source claims that the company could decide on a final design for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 by March 2022.
Many users have complained about the lack of a dedicated S Pen holster on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. So it seems reasonable to assume that Samsung will make some changes with the successor. As SamMobile notes, the form factor of the Galaxy Z Fold is a perfect match for the S Pen.
Based on the assumption that Samsung would follow a similar launch strategy as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the next-gen foldable is roughly nine months away from launch. However, we’ve already come across a fair bit of information on the device via leaks and rumors. A recent leak suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4 could feature a new hinge.
This hinge will supposedly offer better resistance to dust and water while also being lighter. The report adds that both phones will launch in August 2022 and offer identical battery capacities. Of course, any early leak or rumor ought to be taken with a grain of salt. But it’s exciting to think about what’s in store with the next-gen Samsung foldables.
