Among the many new products that Razer announced today is the Kraken V3, a gaming headset that the company promises will help you feel the action with intelligent haptics. When you think about traditional haptics, you’re generally getting simple vibrations that are timed with in-game actions. And you can either have them enabled or disabled. And that’s basically it.

The Razer Kraken V3 takes things to a whole new level with its intelligent haptics. Called Razer HyperSense. The closest comparison to what this might feel like would be Sony’s advanced haptics in the PS5’s DualSense controller. Though HyperSense will work in an entirely different way.

Razer claims that HyperSense will provide gamers with natural lifelike sensations for greater immersion. Utilizing an advanced L5 driver with real-time processing to help mimic reality. Razer says audio processing happens in as little as 5ms. It also requires no integration at all and it’s adjustable via on-headset controls.

There will be three versions of the Kraken V3 gaming headset to pick up from Razer. This includes the standard Kraken V3, as well as the Kraken V3 HyperSense, and the Kraken V3 Pro. Both of the latter models include the new HyperSense intelligent haptics. While the standard model does not.

Most of the features are the same across the board. Though you do get a couple of extras with the Pro model. For example, the Kraken V3 Pro offers USB-C charging and it’s wireless. The other two are wired. The Kraken V3 Pro also uses a Razer HyperClear Supercardioid mic where the Kraken V3 HyperSense and Kraken V3 use a regular HyperClear Cardioid mic.

All of them however do come with the same hybrid fabric and leatherette memory foam ear cushions and steel-reinforced headband. As well as THX spatial audio and the TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers.

Both the Kraken V3 and the Kraken V3 HyperSense go on sale today through Razer and authorized retail partners at $99.99 and $129.99 respectively. Meanwhile the Kraken V3 Pro goes on sale in Q4 of this year and will retail for $199.99. For now, the headset only appears to come in Razer’s traditional black. But the company often comes out with additional colors down the line. So we wouldn’t rule that out.
