Google is preparing for the launch of the Pixel 6 series of smartphones, and so are we. While we’re all eagerly awaiting October 19th, Mincu Andrei on Twitter just hit us with some interesting pictures. This leak shows us the box for the Pixel 6.
The Pixel 6 box leak confirms a few specs
The Pixel in the box leak is a base model phone in the “Sorta Seafoam” color. It will keep with the simple design that we see with other Google products. An image of the phone sits on the lower half of the box with the Google logo and the text “Pixel 6” above it.
The real treasure trove of information is on the back; we see a lot of details about the phone and its specs on the back label. First, we see that this device has a 6.4-inch display and 128GB of storage, as per the leaks. It also uses 5G (which is not a surprise) but we see that it can use the Sub-6 wavelengths. What’s unfortunate is that it can’t use the 5G mm wavelengths.
This phone, unfortunately, won’t come with a traditional charger
What seems to be the latest trend among smartphone manufacturers is excluding the charger from the box. While there are some legitimate environmental benefits to doing this, a lot of customers don’t like it. Based on the box, it seems that the Pixel 6 won’t come with a traditional charger.
On the back, it reads it will come with a Quick Switch Adaptor (this is an adaptor to connect your Android phone to an iPhone to migrate data) and it will come with a data transfer cord, but there will be no wall adaptor. You can use the cord, but, unfortunately, you will need to get your own adaptor.
Forgot the Pixel 6/6 Pro’s specs? Here’s a refresher
The Pixel 6 will have a 6.4-inch AMOLED display that can run at 90Hz. It will use Google’s own Tensor chip with 8GB of RAM and up to 265GB of storage. There will be a 50-megapixel main camera with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Topping off the specs is a 4,616mAh battery.
The Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that can run at 120Hz. It will share the Tensor chip with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. There will be a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 48-megapixel telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Pro will have a slightly larger 5,000mAh battery.
If this leak of the box makes you want to get a Pixel 6, they will officially go on sale on October 19th. Google says that in the US, they will officially start shipping on October 28; they will start shipping in Europe on November 1st.
