Google announced its new smartphones today, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Along with them, the company announced the beginning of the Android 12 rollout for Pixels. If you’re unwilling to wait for an OTA to arrive, you can download an OTA build for your Pixel phone manually as we speak.

Do note that this update will also bring an Android security update for October to your device. LInks for all eligible smartphones are included below the article, if you’re interested.

You can now download OTAs & factory images for your Pixel smartphone

The phones that you can get OTAs and factory images for are the Pixel 3, 3 XL, 3a, 3a XL, 4, 4 XL, 4a, 4a 5G, 5, and 5a. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro comes with Android 12 out of the box, of course.

Android 12 is the biggest new iteration of Android we’ve seen in a long time. Google basically changed up the UI, as it switched to the brand new ‘Material You’ interface. This version of Android highlights theming, while it adds a number of new features.

Google boosted widgets in Android 12, allowing them to do more than ever before. On top of that, the notification shade got an update, while there are a number of theming options now. For example, your phone’s UI can be automatically tweaked based on a wallpaper you’re using.

Those of you who have been using a Developer Preview of Android 12, or any of the Beta builds will be right at home. Those of you who haven’t, well, you’ll have plenty to see here.

Android 12 was expected to arrive earlier this month, when Google officially announced it. The company did announce it for AOSP, but it did not kick off rollout for the Pixel phones. We had to wait until today, basically.

You can wait for an update to come knocking, or update manually

OTA update will reach your phone in the near future, not straight away. This is a staged rollout, as per usual. If you’re really eager to get it, all the links you need are included below. Installing an OTA build manually is the safest route you have, next to actually getting it OTA. If you’re having issues updating, here’s our guide.
