Samsung‘s upcoming affordable flagship, the Galaxy S21 FE, has appeared on Google Play Console. The listing has confirmed a few key details about the phone as the wait for its unveiling continues.

To start with, the Galaxy S21 FE is now pretty much confirmed to come in an Exynos variant. A separate Play Console listing last month had shown the device with a Snapdragon 888 processor. There were speculations back then that Samsung may use the Qualcomm chipset in the upcoming Fan Edition (FE) smartphone phone in all regions it is sold.

But a recent Geekbench entry suggested otherwise, as it showed the phone with the Korean firm’s in-house Exynos 2100 SoC. The newly-spotted Google Play Console listing has confirmed the same. Of course, the phone will be available with the Snapdragon 888 chipset as well, but not in every market.

The Exynos 2100 processor has an ARM Cortex-A78 CPU core clocked at 3.0GHz, three more Cortex-A78 cores at 2.8GHz, and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.2GHz. There’s an ARM Mali G78 GPU operating at a maximum frequency of 858MHz for graphics duties.

The Google Play Console listing shows the Galaxy S21 FE with 8GB of RAM. But there could be a 6GB, or perhaps a 12GB variant as well. The listing doesn’t reveal the display size but confirms it to be a Full HD+ panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2009 pixels and a screen density of 480 pixels per inch. Multiple leaks in the past have hinted at a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The device will expectedly run Android 11 out of the box. We expect Samsung’s One UI 3.1 on top, though the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 for the Galaxy S21 series appears to be right around the corner.

The Galaxy S21 FE continues to elude the market

The Galaxy S21 FE has been in the news for so long that we have already passed two rumored launch dates for the device. The next-gen Fan Edition Galaxy was expected to arrive alongside a bunch of other Galaxies at Samsung’s Unpacked event last month. That obviously didn’t happen.

Reports then started circulating that the phone will go official on September 8th. That didn’t happen either. The latest rumor is that Samsung will finally take wraps off the Galaxy S21 FE on October 29th. How much truth is in that rumor is anyone’s guess. There’s been so much confusion around this phone’s launch that nothing can be said for sure just yet. We will let you know as and when we have more information. Meanwhile, you can check our Galaxy S21 FE Preview for all the details we know so far.
