Back in July, reports emerged that Samsung is considering releasing the Galaxy S21 FE in Europe and the US only due to the chip shortage issues. The company was apparently in no position to manufacture enough units for a global release. But subsequent reports have suggested that the upcoming Fan Edition (FE) Galaxy flagship will be available to fans all over the world. Well, it appears the device could still be hard to find. Samsung may not produce a lot of Galaxy S21 FE units.
According to noted industry insider Max Jambor, Samsung has manufactured just about 10,000 Galaxy S21 phones so far. Of course, that’s not all the company will produce. But the numbers are a lot lesser than what they should have been at this stage.
Companies usually begin the mass production of new devices five to six weeks before the launch. With the Galaxy S21 FE expected to go official next month, Samsung doesn’t have much time on its hands. It will likely increase the production rate in the coming weeks. But at the end of the day, the upcoming Galaxy smartphone may be available in a limited quantity.
Samsung could be knowingly planning a limited availability for the Galaxy S21 FE, Max speculates. High demand for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 foldables, as well as a nearing Galaxy S22 launch early next year, means the company doesn’t give much priority to the S21 FE. Time will tell whether the phone will see a global launch or will be available only in a handful of big markets.
The Galaxy S21 FE is going to be a compelling proposition
Samsung’s Fan Edition devices offer flagship-grade specs and features at an affordable price. The Galaxy S21 FE sports a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood is either the Snapdragon 888 or the Exynos 2100 depending on the market. On the back, we have flagship-grade cameras as well. The rest of the specs are also as good as they could be.
All in all the Galaxy S21 FE is going to be a compelling proposition from Samsung. Wherever it goes on sale, and in whatever quantity, the device is almost certain to turn heads. It should not be a very long wait before we know for sure.
While there’s still a lot of confusion around the Galaxy S21 FE, it will surely arrive in the market sooner or later. So stay tuned for any official communication from Samsung regarding the phone’s launch.
