SimpliSafe has just announced its new Wireless Outdoor Security Camera, which is going to work great with its “Whole Home” Security system that it currently sells. Which is going to allow you to keep an eye on your home inside and out.
This new camera has a magnetic mount, much like the Nest Cam Battery has. And there’s a rechargeable battery, that powers the LED spotlight. It can last for around three to six months on the battery. This will depends on your settings and usage.
Since this is an outdoor camera, it is rated at IP65, so it can withstand the weather. It also offers 1080p resolution and HDR. So you’re able to see it at night with the nightvision as well, which works for up to 30 feet. There’s a 140-degree field of view, giving you a really wide-angle here.
It’s designed to work seamlessly with the SimpliSafe security system
As you’d expect, this is designed to work seamlessly with the SimpliSafe security system. And when the system detects an incident, the camera can start recording and blast an alert through its integrated 80dB siren. This system also has two-way talk. So you can talk to whoever is seen on the camera.
Users will be able to configure the camera with custom motion zones, and know the difference between people, cars, and pets. So it doesn’t alert you when your dog comes into view.
The SimpliSafe Outdoor Camera is available for $169.99. Putting it right on par with the other wire-free outdoor cameras that are on the market today. You can pick up extra batteries for $29.99. SimpliSafe also sells a 25-foot IP65-rated power cable for just $49.99. SimpliSafe has a solar panel for this camera that costs $79.99. It’ll start shipping later this fall. Though, no specific date has been given just yet.
