The Pixel 5a Is Rumored To Release Sometime in August

Google Pixel 5a renders 4

The rumor mill is all tangled up with news about both the Google Pixel 5a and Pixel 6. Now that we’re approaching Q3 of 2021, there’s not much time before these devices launch. There’s been a lot of speculation as to when we’ll be seeing the Pixel 5a. Thanks to a new leak from Bloomberg, we may be able to expect a possible Pixel 5a launch sometime in August.

This news came from an article about iOS products, of all places

There’s not too much to go off of here, so take this news with a hint of salt. The article mostly focused on Apple news, but near the end of it, it mentioned the Pixel 5a. It read, “Google Pixel fans, this summer is for you. Expect the Pixel 5a, the company’s next-generation, lower-cost handset, to be announced and released in August. ”

It mentioned that it won’t only be announced in August, but it will also be launched in the same month. This should hopefully point to an announcement early in the month. This should be good news for fans of the Pixel A series.

As for availability, it’s rumored that it will only be available in the states and Japan at launch. There’s no telling if that will change down the road, or if it will remain in effect.

The price and specs of the Pixel 5a

Right now, it’s tough to say exactly what the Pixel 5a will be packing in terms of specs. It’s all rumor, so it’s subject to change once August comes around. The design is projected to be reminiscent of the Pixel 4a’s design, with barely any change at all. It may retain the punch hole display at 1080p+ resolution.

The Pixel 5a is rumored to use the same Snapdragon 765 that was in the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5. This may be backed up with the same RAM with the same storage options. This makes sense as this is going to be a mid-range phone. The Pixel will also keep the headphone jack that’s present on the Pixel 4a 5G.

The camera package is rumored to mirror what we’ve been seeing the past seven Pixel phones. It’s the 12.2 megapixel main sensor. Google has been leading the way in terms of camera processing, which is why the company has been squeamish about making changes to its camera technology. This is rumored to be accompanied by a 16 megapixel ultrawide camera with a 107 degrees field of view.

The Pixel 5a launch is fast approaching, so if you’re looking forward to getting your hands on one, there’s not much time to wait.
