With news that we aren’t getting another Razr 5G this year, fans of the company are wondering what Motorola handset they can get their hands on in 2021. Thanks to German tech site, TechnikNews, we now know that there are three new Motorola Edge phones in the works.
The first of the new Motorola Edge phones is codenamed the ‘Berlin’
Motorola confirmed that they were working on some new Edge phones back in May, but we didn’t have the codenames or any info about the devices. At this point, the only tangible information that we have about these phones is about the internals.
The first of the three is codenamed ‘Berlin.’ There will actually be two variants of the Berlin. One variant is named The Berlin “NA.” We don’t know anything about the size of these devices or their screen resolution. What we do know is that they won’t be using the most powerful Snapdragon chip. They’ll be using the Snapdragon 778G.
Both variants will share the same options for storage and RAM configurations. Both will either have 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. These aren’t impressive specs for a 2021 flagship, but hopefully, the price won’t be too high.
The camera package is where we start to see the differences between the variants. They both share the 108-megapixel main camera and the 32-megapixel front-facing camera, and that’s where the similarities stop. The Motorola Berlin will have a 16-megapixel ultrawide camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera.
The “NA” variant, on the other hand, will have an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, but no telephoto camera. Instead, it will have a 2-megapixel depth sensor, a feature that will be absent on the other variant.
The Motorola Edge ‘Pstar’
The next of the new Motorola Edge phones is the Motorola Edge Pstar. We don’t know much information about this phone’s processor. It’s The device is on Qualcomm’s “Kona” platform, which means that the SoC could either be the Snapdragon 865 or the 870. It will have 6/8 or 12 GB of RAM with 128 or 256 GB of storage.
As for the camera, the Motorola Edge Pstar will share the 108-megapixel sensor of the Berlin, but pictures may come out differently since they’ll be processed by different silicon. It will also have a 16-megapixel ultrawide camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. The resolution of the front-facing camera will be half of the Berlin’s at 16-megapixels.
The Motorola Edge Kyoto
Rounding out this list is the Motorola Edge Kyoto. We know the least information about this device. What we know is that it may be the least powerful of the new Motorola Edge phones. There’s, unfortunately, no information about the device’s processor or RAM.
We do know that it will have a 108-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. Motorola will provide more information about these devices as they near an official release.
