HONOR has just announced that its upcoming Magic 3 series will utilize the Snapdragon 888 Plus processor from Qualcomm. This chip got announced earlier today by the company, as part of MWC 2021.

The Snapdragon 888 Plus will be utilized by the HONOR Magic 3 smartphones

HONOR has reached out to confirm the information, and even Qualcomm mentioned HONOR in its press release. HONOR will be one of the first companies to utilize the Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC.

Having said that, some of you are probably wondering what is the Magic 3 series all about. Well, HONOR already announced its HONOR 50 smartphones, all of which come with mid-range processors. None of them have been announced for global markets yet, though.

In any case, the Magic 3 series will obviously become HONOR’s flagship series. HONOR was expected to announce at least one HONOR 50 smartphone with a high-end SoC, but that didn’t happen.

At least one Magic 3 smartphone may be a foldable one

The Magic 3 series will change things around, though. Now, HONOR is rumored to announce its first foldable smartphone this year, and it is rumored to have the ‘Magic’ branding on it.

The company did not confirm this information just yet, so we cannot be sure. A well-known tipster did share a HONOR Magic 2 image on Twitter recently, and suggested that a next-gen Magic phone is coming in August.

That may as well be true, as HONOR just confirmed that the series will be fueled by the Snapdragon 888 Plus. It is possible that only one phone from the series will be foldable, while the other one will be a regular handset.

At this point, we can only guess, as no Magic 3 device has leaked thus far. More information will hopefully pop up online in the near future, to give us a hint as to what to expect in August.

One thing is for sure, the Magic 3 series will be really powerful. The Snapdragon 888 Plus is not a huge improvement over the Snapdragon 888, but it’s still an improvement. It is Qualcomm’s most powerful chipset to date.
