The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 display info has leaked. This information comes from Display Supply Chain (DSCC), as Ross Young is back once again to fill in the gaps.

More Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Z Flip 3 display info surfaced

The source did mention quite a few details regarding these displays, so let’s talk about that, starting with the Z Fold 3. It is mentioned that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first foldable smartphone to include an under-display camera. In fact, it will offer the first foldable display with an under-display camera.

Its foldable display will replace the circular polarizer with a color filter. It will be the first foldable display in a smartphone to do that. That should reduce the display’s thickness, increase brightness, and decrease power consumption.

It will also be the first foldable display to offer the S Pen input. Do note that the overall display thickness may be above what the Z Fold 2 offered, because of the digitizer.

It is also noted that Samsung will include a rugged protection layer under the UTG cover, similar to the one on the Z Flip 5G. Another carbon-reinforced polymer layer will be added under the display, for durability purposes.

Corning’s involvement has been confirmed by DSCC

Now, things are also interesting when it comes to the Z Flip 3. DSCC reports that Corning (the manufacturer of Gorilla Glass display protection) will share the ultra-thin glass (UTG) business on the Z Flip 3 with SCHOTT.

The source also mentioned that Corning’s UTG will be processed by eCONY, a Korean supplier. eCONY will “perform the glass thinning and chemical strengthening steps”, it is said.

The display stack thickness on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be increased by 8-percent compared to its predecessor. Samsung did that for durability reasons, of course.

Both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are expected to arrive in August. They are tipped to launch in early August, and become available before the end of the month.
