Galaxy Z Fold 3 Will Be Lighter Than Its Predecessor

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be lighter than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 2. This information has been revealed by a well-known tipster, Ice Universe.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be lighter than the Z Fold 2

He shared a new tweet in which he revealed the weight of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The device will weigh 269 grams. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 weighs 282 grams, in case you didn’t know. So, there won’t be a huge difference, but still, 13 grams is better than nothing.

Considering how heavy foldable smartphones are, every bit helps. Using the Galaxy Z Fold 2 with one hand, when folded, is quite a difficult task. Its overall size and thickness are an issue, as it’s a foldable phone, but its weight makes the whole thing nearly impossible.

Getting hand fatigue is really easy with that phone. Truth be said, that’s not Samsung’s fault, as the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a foldable device, and it’s basically impossible for it to be light, at least not in this day and age.

It’s nice to see that Samsung is improving things, as it’s always nice to see that the next-gen handset will be lighter, at least marginally. Now, in addition to this, Ice Universe did reveal some more information about the Galaxy Z Flip 3 as well.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 will offer a thinner ‘chin’ than its predecessor

The tipster said that the ‘chin’ aka bottom bezel on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will measure 3.8mm. It will be 1mm thinner than it is on the Galaxy Z Flip, as its bottom bezel measures 4.8mm.

We’re not sure what this means for the rest of the bezels, but they should be equally thick. It’s a bit weird that the tipster highlighted only the bottom bezel here. Is it possible that the other sides will be thicker? We’ll have to wait and see.

Both the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are expected to launch in August. The company will, allegedly, launch them during the same event. Those are not the only devices that are expected to arrive, though.

Those two foldable smartphones are expected to be accompanied by the Galaxy S21 FE, Watch 4, and Watch Active 4. Samsung still didn’t confirm anything, though, so we’ll have to wait and see.
