A new service has emerged online, and it aims to compete with Google Photos. The name of that service is ‘ente’, and it’s available on Android, iOS, and desktop, the same as Google Photos.

‘ente’ is a new alternative to Google Photos

That being said, ‘ente’ is a new service, and it does offer end-to-end encryption, which will make all the difference for some of you. If you’re looking to switch away from Google Photos, this could be a way to do it.

Do note that ‘ente’ is not free, though, before you get your hopes up. You do get 1GB of storage for free, but anything beyond that, you’ll need to pay for. So, 25GB of storage will cost you €1.99 per month, while 100GB and 500GB alternatives are also available.

If you need more than 25GB of storage, you can pay €4.99 per month for 100GB, or €14.99 per month for 500GB of storage. This is very important to note if you’re switching away from Google Photos simply because of the new payment structure.

Many people are looking for alternatives considering that Google Photos will no offer free storage past June 1. Everything you backed up before then won’t count against your storage, but everything you back up past that date, will.

It doesn’t really have the smarts of Google Photos, but it’s still quite compelling

Now, ‘ente’ is a really well-equipped service considering it’s new. It doesn’t really have the smarts of Google Photos, other than that, it’s really compelling. What’s especially compelling is the end-to-end encryption.

As you can see in the images provided below the article, ‘ente’ looks really nice as well. It offers a minimalistic design, and OLED black dark mode to preserve your phone’s battery, if you have an AMOLED display.

You can choose whether you want to backup your photos and videos via mobile data, or WiFi only. You can also choose which folders you’d like to back up, the same as you’d do with Google Photos.

If you’d like to try out ‘ente’, we’ve included a download link below. It will take you straight to the Google Play Store’s listing of this app.
