The OnePlus 9 Pro units seem to be overheating way too easily. I’ve experienced it several times while using the device, as have many users who bought the phone via Amazon. OnePlus Forums are also plagued with such reports.
Overheating warnings pop up on OnePlus 9 Pro units way too often
Overheating warnings are popping up way too often, and they’re usually caused by camera use. The good news is, the fix seems to be on the way, according to Android Police. OnePlus said that it will be addressed in updates “over the next few weeks”.
OnePlus had released four stable updates for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro since we’ve received our review units. So the company is doing its best to optimize the two phones as soon as possible. There’s still a lot of work to be done, though, it seems.
The OnePlus 9 Pro had received a lot of negative reviews on Amazon due to such issues. Both Amazon.com and Amazon India are plagued with reports of overheating, and users’ 1-star reviews because of it.
The thing is, it doesn’t take the phone a lot to start popping up such warnings. Fire up 4K video recording at 30 FPS, and it’ll appear soon after that. It also starts popping up after less than 10 taken pictures for some users.
Such warnings block you from using the camera app
It can appear in the camera app itself, saying the following: “Unable to take pictures as the phone’s temperature is too high”. So, it basically makes it impossible to take pictures at the moment.
Playing games is also causing this, and we’re not talking about long gaming sessions, not at all. It can appear after 10 minutes of gameplay. OnePlus seemingly needs to optimize something, as the issue seems to be software-related, thankfully.
This issue doesn’t seem to affect all users, though. Some people from the industry were unable to replicate the problem on their units. So, it may not be a problem for you. If it is, OnePlus should release an update to fix it in the near future.
