The Android 11 update is now rolling out for Samsung‘s Galaxy Tab S5e. The two-year-old affordable Galaxy tablet is picking up the new update with One UI 3.1 on top. The update comes with firmware version T72xXXU2DUD1 and is currently rolling out to users in the UK and Russia. The rollout should expand to other regions in the coming days.

One UI 3.1 is the latest version of Samsung’s custom Android skin. Debuted with the Galaxy S21 series, the Android 11 based software has since made it into a number of other Galaxy devices, including Galaxy Tab S6, Tab S6 Lite, and, of course, the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+. The Galaxy Tab S5e is now picking it up as well.

The Android 11 One UI 3.1 update for the Galaxy Tab S5e brings a plethora of new features, changes, and improvements to the tablet. As soon as you install the update, you’ll notice some major visual design refresh that makes navigation throughout the device smoother and faster.

The update brings more customization abilities, including new image categories in Dynamic Lock screen, photo or video call background, Digital Wellbeing with separate personal and work profiles, and more. You can also now turn off the screen by double-tapping on an empty space on the Home or Lock screen.

A new feature-rich keyboard, a dedicated conversations section in the notifications panel, support for chat heads, the ability to revert edited pictures to their original versions at any time, auto-switching of compatible TWS buds between your phone and tablet, and enhanced blue light filter, i.e. Eye Comfort Shield, as Samsung calls it now, are some other notable additions with the latest update.

You’ll have to do away with some existing features as well, though. App copies made using Dual messenger can no longer access SD card files directly from within the app. You cannot use Wi-Fi Direct to send files anymore, though you can still receive files using Wi-Fi Direct. Last but not least, you can no longer connect to Chromecast using Smart View. You can use Google Home instead.

The Android 11 update for the Galaxy Tab S5e bundles the March 2021 Android security patch, though several Galaxy devices have already picked up this month’s release. Nonetheless, it’s Android 11 that the device is getting and that’s itself is a huge package. If you own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e, be on the lookout for this huge update in the coming days.
