The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro were recently released. However, there was no word on if Verizon would certify the new devices. Well, Verizon certified the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro on March 26 according to 9to5Google.
The announcement comes a few days after the official announcement of the new OnePlus devices, and will surely make a lot of prospective buyers happy. With the certification, the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro will have access to Verizon’s 5G network.
PR manager for Verizon, George Koroneos, confirmed the certification via Twitter. The new certification will make many users who would rather buy their devices outright from OnePlus happy. The announcement means users can buy their new OnePlus from the company itself and not be tied into a payment agreement.
Having access to Verizon’s 5G network is going to be a great boon for the new devices. Thankfully, users will have access to Verizon’s Nationwide 5G on both the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. However, if you decide to opt for the 9 Pro then you will also have access to Verizon’s mmWave 5G network which will give you blazing fast speeds.
However, Verizon’s mmWave coverage is still growing. As a result, you may or may not be in an area covered by it. But, if you are then you will see massive speed improvements over 4G LTE. Having access to both flavors of Verizon’s 5G will help to future-proof the new devices.
Verizon certified the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro now they can access 5G
When OnePlus announced the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro the company said that 5G support from Verizon wouldn’t be available at launch. OnePlus did say that they would work with Verizon to get certified, and it looks like the two companies got it all worked out.
The OnePlus 9 family is already shipping to early buyers, so that should mean those buyers will have their devices soon. For those users who are on Verizon, the certification could not have come at a better time. Now they will be able to set up their new devices and instantly take advantage of the fast 5G speeds.
Unfortunately, Verizon does not sell the new devices outright. So for those who do not want to buy the devices outright, you will have two options. You can either buy the device at full price from OnePlus or another merchant. Of course, this means you have to come out of pocket a nice chunk of money. Or, you can go to OnePlus’ website where the company does offer financing. So not all hope is lost.
