For Android users, there are tons of third-party launcher applications that give them the freedom to set up the homescreen as per their liking. Lawnchair is also one of the popular launcher applications. Reportedly, Lawnchair 11 Alpha 1 is now live with Android 11 support.
Lawnchair gives Android users the option to get a Pixel-like experience on their smartphones. And by Pixel-like we mean it gives the over-populated homescreen into a clean stock-Android-like setup.
Back in February, we reported that the once stagnated Lawnchair team has been revamped, and an update was expected soon. Well, the day has arrived. As the new team is treating its userbase with a Lawnchair 11 Alpha 1 update.
Being an Alpha build, the Lawnchair 11 update is pretty barebones, and there aren’t many options. However, the launcher and features like At a Glance widget, dock search bar, icon pack support, and notifications swipe down work fine.
An interesting thing to note is that this version of the launcher, i.e. the Lawnchair 11 Alpha 1 is only tested to run with Android 11. So, using this on older versions is not a good idea at the moment.
Fortunately, the Lawnchair team confirmed older version support imminent. Till then, users running older Android versions should hold their horses.
Lawnchair to soon get new features like background blur and individual shortcut customization
While the Lawnchair 11 Alpha 1 is already out for testing on Android 11, new features like background blur, individual shortcut customization, etc. are also coming soon for the third-party launcher.
Lawnchair is a pretty popular third-party launcher app that gives a tough competition to the likes of Nova Launcher and Alpha. As for the Lawnchair 11 Alpha 1 update is concerned, you may still experience crashes and bugs if you try to sideload the app.
Users can install the latest update of the Lawnchair and Lawnfeed 3 side by side with the public release of the app. But keep in mind that the app is not stable and you may come across some bugs.
Some of the issues that the Lawnchair devs are aware of are missing app names in the widget drawer, and no screen traditions in Settings.
If you face issues with the Lawnchair 11 Alpha 1 release, you can head over to Settings >> Apps >> Default apps. From here, simply switch over if things get a bit too buggy.
For more information on the latest release, you can head over to the official Telegram channel of Lawnchair. Moreover, you can follow the same link to grab the APK file of the Lawnchair launcher.
