RedMagic is now teasing its upcoming gaming phone, the RedMagic 6, slated for a reveal in March. Early March at that. If you’re unfamiliar with RedMagic as a brand, that’s ok.
Gaming smartphones are certainly increasing in popularity but they’re by no means as popular as devices in the Galaxy range. Which have global appeal and recognition. Having said that, RedMagic, while pumping out some decent devices, is not as well-known as brands like ASUS or Razer.
So unless you’re specifically interested in the latest and greatest gaming phones, RedMagic may not be on your radar. It should be though, if you want a powerful device that was purpose built for mobile gaming. Which is exactly what this phone is.
The RedMagic 6 gaming phone is being teased for a reveal on March 4
If the dates are accurate, then RedMagic is slated to make its official announcement of the upcoming device just days before ASUS is set to reveal its new ROG Phone 5. Which is set to happen on March 9 in the US.
One thing to keep in mind is that the RedMagic teaser is in Chinese. So March 4 could be the date for China. If that’s the case and the reveal is global, then consumers in the US can expect the reveal to happen on March 3 because of the time difference.
RedMagic has teased the device on its official Weibo account. But it doesn’t mention anything about a US announcement. So it’s not guaranteed. Alongside the date for the reveal, though, the company does mention some details about specs.
In short, the RedMagic will be a very powerful gaming phone and one worth having.
Powered by the latest Snapdragon mobile platform
RedMagic has always used powerful hardware inside of its phones. This time is no different. The RedMagic 6 will seemingly come powered by the latest Snapdragon mobile platform that Qualcomm has to offer. The Snapdragon 888.
This is the same mobile platform that ASUS is rumored to be using in the ROG Phone 5. The RedMagic 6 is also said to be coming with a 165Hz display and a 400Hz touch sampling rate, and a 4500mAh battery in addition to a 120W fast charger.
There are still plenty of specs that haven’t been teased. Like the RAM, display size, and camera quality. Not to mention any additional hardware or software features like triggers or gaming modes. As of right now the official reveal is one week away. So it won’t be long before more official details pop up.
