Huawei has announced that it now allows third-party apps on its wearable devices. Huawei is essentially inviting developers to develop applications for its smartwatches.

Third-party apps can now be created for wearable devices from Huawei

The company has released quite a few smartwatches thus far, and they sure could benefit from third-party apps. Those watches do have their positives and negatives, and new apps would push them in the right direction, that’s for sure.

Huawei’s wearables are actually quite popular, the company has been rising in that market quite a bit. The company plans to keep on expanding that category of products that’s for sure.

Having said that, Huawei also announced a live “proof of concept” with a workout app that got released for the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro, it’s called ‘Fitify’.

“Fitify is a fitness app that combines physiotherapy and sports science knowledge with AI and computer science to deliver a personalized workout experience for mobile devices and wearables”, says Huawei.

Fitify is a great choice for a first third-party app to become available on a wearable

There are over 900 exercises in this app’s database, which makes it the biggest exercise database listed on Huawei’s AppGallery store. The app has over 10 million users in over 170 countries.

As far as the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro is concerned, that smartwatch launched back in December. It is a high-end offering from the company which comes with a titanium shell and sapphire glass.

We’ve reviewed the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro a while back, you can read that review here if you’d like to know more about a watch. Aside from its build quality, the watch certainly shines in the display and battery life categories.

Huawei aims to provide on-stop, full-spectrum operational support for its app content providers, in general. App providers for its wearables are included in the mix, of course. You can expect to see more such apps becoming available for Huawei’s wearables. Fitify will hopefully find its way to other Huawei wearables in the near future.
