Xiaomi is known for offering some of the fastest wireless as well as wired charging solutions for its devices. In line with this, Xiaomi is all set to unveil its 80W Fast Wireless Charging solution.
For the unaware, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, which debuted in August 2020, and the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphones, both come with 50W fast wireless charging support.
Now, the latest tip from a reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, reveals that Xiaomi is currently testing the 80W fast wireless charging technology. And may soon launch the technology as it is currently in the verification process.
This piece of information was revealed by Digital Chat Station via a Weibo post. He also added that the 80W fast wireless charging solution will likely enter mass production in the first half of this year.
Moreover, it is also unclear which of Xiaomi's upcoming smartphone will equip this new fast wireless technology. Well, the company is expected to launch the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro smartphone in February 2021.
So, we can expect the company to bundle the 80W fast wireless charging solution with Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro. But take this piece of information with a pinch of salt, as it may debut with another handset as well.
Apparently, Xiaomi unveiled the 80W wireless charging technology in October 2020
Talking about this feature, it is not something new from Xiaomi's end. In fact, Xiaomi showcased this 80W wireless charging technology back in October last year.
During the demo, a 4000 mAh battery was fully charged in about 18 minutes using the 80W fast wireless charging. This is pretty insane, but there are downsides to such ultra high speed charging solutions.
Over a period of time, charging your devices' battery often with high-speed chargers can result in the faster deterioration of the battery. But as they say, you gain some, you lose some.
Besides, it is the world's fastest wireless charging technology. Another Chinese OEM that can give tough competition to Xiaomi is Huawei. They also offer a 50W fast wireless charging solution for devices.
It requires some special and efficient wireless charging architecture and chips to build such high-speed charging technology. Independently designed composite coil system, dual 6C series batteries, with multi-stage variable current control, and MiFC fast charging are required to build 80W fast charging tech.
As already mentioned, there is no info about Xiaomi's plan on which device it will debut this fast wireless charging technology. Since the device is soon going to enter mass production, all eyes will be on the upcoming smartphone releases.
