ASUS' Zephyrus G14 & G15 Will Now Come With AMD's Ryzen 5000 CPU

On January 12 ASUS announced a lot of new stuff coming to market in the world of gaming, and among those announcements was the refresh of the Zephyrus G14 and G15 gaming laptops, now coming with a Ryzen 5000 CPU from AMD.

In addition to the Ryzen 5000 CPU both Zephyrus laptops will also be coming with NVIDIA’s latest offerings. The new 30 series mobile GPUs.

ASUS is also among a group of brands that are coming out with RTX 30 series gaming laptops in 2021. MSI, Razer, and Gigabyte have all confirmed that new laptops will be available soon that are powered by the RTX 30 series chips. providing even more powerful gaming experiences.


Both Zephyrus laptops will have multiple Ryzen 5000 configurations

Whether you go with the Zephyrus G14 or the Zephyrus G15, you’ll get your choice of multiple Ryzen 5000 CPU configurations. Most of the chips will be from the Ryzen 5000 series.

But, they can go up to the Ryzen 9 5900HS. Which is a 3.1GHz processor with a 16M cache. There will also be models available that offer the Ryzen 7 5800HS. As well as models with the Ryzen 7 4800HS. This goes for both the G14 and the G15.

However the 4800HS models of the G14 will carry a GTX 1650 GPU while the G15 variant will come with an RTX 3060. Meanwhile, the most powerful versions of the G14 will have an RTX 3060 while the G15 will have RTX 3080 options available.


ASUS hasn’t confirmed any specific release dates for either laptop yet. Nor has it mentioned what the cost will be of these refreshed models. But it has stated that availability will be sometime in the first quarter of 2021. So expect to have the option to purchase either one before the end of March.

ASUS has also refreshed the displays and added new aesthetic features

If you like quirky little aesthetics on your tech, you’ll be happy to know that new models of both the Zephyrus G14 and the Zephyrus G15 come with new animations for the AniME Matrix lighting grid that sits on top of the laptop lid.

There are new display options too. With a 144Hz panel on the G14 and a 165Hz panel on the G15. Each laptop display is also QHD resolution and there are storage options for up to 2TB via SSD.


ASUS says that each laptop offers more than 10 hours of battery life on a single charge. But expect that change based on the type of activity you’re doing. Meaning you shouldn’t expect to have over 10 hours of battery life if you’re playing high-end games at the highest possible settings.
