The Sony Xperia 5 II is available in a cool purple color as well, but chances are you can’t buy it. Sounds confusing? Well, this device is available in only one country, Japan. It is offered by Docomo, one of Japan’s largest carriers.
The Sony Xperia 5 II is available in black, gray, blue, and pink color options in most other markets it’s available in. Japan, Sony’s homeland, managed to get this sleek-looking purple variant, though.
That means that the device is available in five colors in general. This whole device is purple, except for the fingerprint scanner, which is located on the right side. That fingerprint scanner is gray-color, for some reason.
The purple Sony Xperia 5 II is identical to other variants, except for its color
This phone is exactly the same as all the other models, except it comes in a different color, and it is aimed at the Japanese market only. We’d love to see this color variant in other markets, though, that’s for sure.
That likely won’t happen, as Sony doesn’t have a habit of bringing in Japan-exclusive colors to other markets. You don’t often see a purple flagship-grade smartphone, and that’s a shame. Most smartphones come in rather generic colors lately.
This variant actually reminded me of the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple variant. Truth be said, the color is a bit different, but it’s still purple. The Thunder Purple OnePlus 6T did look quite sleek on its own.
The sales for that model were not that high, so OnePlus ultimately ditched the color. That’s a shame, as the phone looked quite sleek in that color. Let’s hope OEMs will come to their senses and start offering more “fun” colors in the future.
Low-end and mid-range phones do tend to come in more “interesting” color variants, well, sometimes. High-end devices, not so much, though so OEMs do tend to spice things up from time to time.
