New OnePlus Nord Update Improves Camera, Display & More

OnePlus Nord OxygenOS 10 5 8 update

OnePlus has started pushing a new update for the OnePlus Nord, and it brings both camera and display improvements. That’s just a part of the picture, though, as more changes are listed.

This update is marked as OxygenOS 10.5.8, and it already started rolling out to the stable channel. It is rolling out globally, by the way, regardless of where you purchased the device. As long as it’s running OxygenOS, and it’s on stable software, you’ll get it OTA (Over The Air).

This OnePlus Nord update improves both the phone’s camera, and display

In the changelog, OnePlus notes that the update optimized the image stabilization performance of the camera. On top of that, improved general display calibration is also listed. Based on what’s written here, several improvements are included. We don’t know the details, though.

Network connectivity has also been improved. Well, the stability of network connectivity has been improved, in fact. This update also brings a new Android security patch to the device, a patch for September 2020.

The expanded screenshot user experience has been optimized as well. The company also managed to include a new feature in this update, actually.

That new feature is called “Hide silent notifications in status bar”. It will help you filter unimportant notifications in the status bar, so it’ll put important things front and center.

All you have to do is navigate to Settings -> Apps & Notifications -> Notifications -> Advanced -> Hide silent notifications in the status bar. That should do the trick.

The update is already rolling out, though it’s rolling out in stages

As per usual when it comes to OnePlus updates, this one is rolling out in stages. The rollout has started, but it may take a while for it to reach your device. This update is also not region-locked, or anything of the sort.

Your device will let you know once the update is available. You can always check manually, though, if you want. Simply navigate to Settings -> System -> System updates.

The OnePlus Nord has been in the market for some time now. The device already received quite a few updates, this is just the last one in line. This handset will get company in the future, though.

What do we mean by that? Well, the company is planning to launch several new Nord smartphones soon. The company teased the arrival of a new Nord smartphone recently. A well-known tipster, Max J., confirmed that more than one phone is coming, though.

OnePlus will announce both Snapdragon 600 and 400 series Nord smartphones soon. We’re not sure when exactly, but it’s possible the launch event will take place close to the OnePlus 8T launch event. In fact, it’s possible it will happen during the same launch event, we’ll see.
