OnePlus has played around with a number of color variants for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, it seems. Max J., a well-known tipster, listed the color variants that the company was testing for the two devices, but never used.

OnePlus tested quite a few color variants for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro

Those color variants are Blue, Yellow, Red, Purple, and Aura Glow (similar to the one used on the OnePlus 8). This is not surprising, as that is something OEMs do every year.

As most of you know, the OnePlus 8 is currently available in four color variants (Onyx Black, Glacial Green, Interstellar Glow, Polar Silver), while its sibling comes in three (Glacial Green, Ultramarine Blue, Onyx Black).

The availability of those color options is not only market-dependent, but also dependent on the variant of the phone you’re getting. OnePlus always offers several color options for its device, but not many of them.

Things could change with the OnePlus’ upcoming budget Nord phones, but that’s unlikely. As a reminder, the company is expected to announce two additional phones by the end of this month.

Next-gen OnePlus flagship is not expected to launch May 2021

The OnePlus 9 series, on the other hand, is not expected to arrive until mid-2021. The OnePlus 9’s codename actually got revealed quite recently, and more information will probably follow in the coming weeks / months.

While we wait for that, all the focus is on the recently-launched OnePlus 8T, and the upcoming Nord smartphones. At least one of those two Nord devices will make its way to the US, but it’s possible both will.

OnePlus has been branching out this year, as it launched its first mid-range phone since the OnePlus X. Its name is OnePlus Nord, and it is a compelling smartphone, to say the least.

It remains to be seen what will the company offer with the upcoming Nord smartphones. One thing is for sure, they’ll be more affordable than the current OnePlus Nord handset.
