OnePlus is planning to push out a new update to the OnePlus 8 series, an update that will bring forth a lot of software improvements. The company has revealed this information by launching a new Open Beta update for the two devices.
This update is marked as Open Beta 3, and it’s based on OxygenOS 11, of course. Both of those devices are already running OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11. This update brings various improvements to the beta channel. Those very same improvements are expected to move to the stable channel soon.
Various software improvements coming to the OnePlus 8 series
First and foremost, both devices will get the AOD (Always-On Display) Canvas support. That is the same feature that rolled out to the OnePlus 8T recently. It basically creates a sketch of your background as part of AOD.
This will be an improved Canvas feature, as OnePlus is bringing optimized animations for it. The Zen Mode improvements have also been pushed out to the beta channel. Zen Mode currently has a bug that doesn’t appear often, but that will be fixed soon.
The company also announced optimizations for the UI smoothness when it comes to the calling interface. The background process management mechanism has also been improved, to boost standby performance.
The text was blocked in some games, so that has been fixed here as well. This update will also bring a new security patch to the stable channel, a security patch for October. On top of all that, various system stability and general issues have been fixed.
We’re not entirely sure when will this update arrive to the stable channel, but it’s expected to come in the coming weeks. If you’re already running beta software on your OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro, you’ll get it soon, if you haven’t already. If you haven’t, and you’d like to install it right away, you can do so now.
