OnePlus 7 & 7 Pro Update Optimizes Power Consumption & Improves Security

OnePlus 7 Pro Review AM AH 5

A new OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro update has started rolling out, and it brings some power consumption improvements, amongst other things. In the case of both phones, this update is marked as 10.0.8, at least in Europe.

When it comes to global and Indian units, it’s marked as OxygenOS 10.3.5. That goes for both devices. The update is already rolling out, but it’s coming in stages, so you may have to wait a bit before you get it.

That being said, this update brings a new security patch to the two devices. Android Security patch for September 2020 is included. The same one that OnePlus started pushing out to the OnePlus Nord.

This update improves power consumption, but only on the OnePlus 7 Pro

This update does improve the power consumption of the system in order to improve user experience, says the company. This particular change is only valid for the OnePlus 7 Pro, though, not the vanilla model.

The company has also fixed the flashback issue with some third-party applications. On top of that, a new user assistance feature has been added, to help user master usage skills quickly, says OnePlus.

You can access this feature by navigating to Settings -> OnePlus Tips & Support. On top of all that, the company has fixed known issues and improved system stability.

That is basically everything listed in this changelog. This is not a huge update for the two phones, but it does bring some notable changes. You won’t find a new important feature here, though.

The update will arrive to your device OTA, soon, if it hasn’t already

The update will land on your phone OTA (Over The Air), your device will let you know once it’s ready. You can always check yourself, though. Simply navigate to Settings -> System -> System updates.

The OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro aren’t exactly brand new phones. These two devices launched about a year and a half ago. They’re still really powerful, though, and will continue getting new updates.

These two phones are also in line to get Android 11, after it lands on the OnePlus 8 series of devices. We’re not entirely sure when it will arrive to the OnePlus 7 series, but we’re guessing it will happen early next year. We’ll see, the company may surprise us.

The OnePlus 7T series is also slated to get Android 11 in the near future. It may get it at the same time as the OnePlus 7 series, or before / after, we’ll see. The company is getting ready to release Android 11 to the OnePlus 8 series, by the way, a stable build of the software.
