The PS5 is a monstrosity of a console, and will be the towering monolith of your console gaming setup.

It might be hard to tell now without the console in-hand. But the PS5 is quite huge, and it’s Sony’s biggest console to date so it’ll certainly stand out among your other gaming consoles. Assuming you have any others to begin with.

Even if you don’t, the PS5 will still stand tall. Lording over most other small consumer electronics in the room. It’s thicker than the PS4 too. Not just taller. Rest assured, this will take up a sizeable chunk of space on your desk, table, entertainment center etc., so make room for it. Because it’s a chonker.

The PS5 is Sony’s biggest console, standing tall at 390mm

If you were curious about how big the console is, it measures about 390mm tall when standing upright.

390mm long if you have it sitting down on its side. That’s no small unit. To put that into perspective, a user on Twitter by the name of @keisawada put up diagrams comparing the size of the PS5 to other electronics.

You can see it next to other consoles, or just the TV. There’s even a diagram of it sitting next to the PS4 so you can see the differences in size between the current-gen and next-gen consoles.

There aren’t just side by side comparisons either. There are some which show the the size of the console from the actual side so you can see how wide it is, as well as from the top, and in contrast to different sizes of TV screens.

It’s still a fair bit shorter than a 50-inch TV. But it will no doubt look absolutely massive sitting next to a 30-inch TV or monitor.

It may be time for some Fall cleaning

Because the console is so big compared to previous PlayStation consoles, you’ll definitely need to clear out some space.

it might be time for some Fall cleaning if the area where you plan to put it is otherwise cluttered. One thing’s for certain. You likely aren’t going to be able to fit it under your TV unless it has an adjustable height.

The PS5 launches on November 12. Pre-orders for the PS5 went live last week. Though pre-orders also quickly went out of stock. The good news is that Sony has promised more stock of pre-orders this week. So keep an eye out for them.
