A promotional video has leaked for the upcoming Xperia 5 II smartphone from Sony, and in it the company gets pretty personal with all of the phone's features. The leaked video follows an exclusive leak of the phone by AndroidHeadlines which was reported back on August 27.
The promotional video comes from Evan Blass, who is commonly known for leaking images of unreleased devices. Sometimes Blass also gets his hands on specific details of those devices, and in this case the promotional video for the Xperia 5 II features is one of those times.
The video is not quite a tell-all, but it may as well be. Because it's three minutes long and it highlights a whole bunch of what the phone will offer. Sony hand-picked these features to be front and center. So while there may be more that aren't showcased in the video, the ones that are there are likely to be the biggest and best ones.
The Xperia 5 II will come with real-time eye auto focus
Among the things that the device will have, one thing consumers can be certain of is that it will include a great camera.
Sony is highlighting that by detailing the camera will feature real-time eye auto focus. So when taking photos of other people, it'll be able to focus on the person in frame every time by focusing in on their eyes.
It works on pets too. In the video there's a short snippet that showcases a dog chasing a ball. It appears to be perfectly captured as the sensors find and focus in on its eyes.
The idea here is that by focusing on the eyes, the phone can always provide a great shot anytime you're taking pictures of people or pets.
The phone also comes with a 24mm wide-angle lens and a 16mm ultra wide-angle lens. Which should make it even easier to capture everything in frame. It even has a 70mm telephoto lens for zooming in on more detailed subjects.
20fps burst shooting and slow-motion video recording at 120fps
Sony is bringing back the capabilities for slow motion video. With the Xperia 5 II, you'll be able to shoot slow-motion video at 120fps in 4K HDR.
In addition to that it'll feature up to 20fps AF/AE continuous burst shooting. Which Sony touts as allowing you to capture the previously impossible.
Big gaming perks with a 120Hz refresh rate display and faster response times
It's no secret that Sony is big into gaming. It does after all have the most successful video game console this generation with the PS4, and it's older PS2 was one of the best-selling consoles of all time.
In short Sony knows games. And it's brining some of that love and passion for games to the Xperia 5 II. The screen will feature a 120Hz refresh rate display, with faster response times so you can react to everything you're seeing on-screen.
All thanks to the 240Hz touch pickup rate. How well that actually translates to performance when you're playing mobile games remains to be seen. But it likely doesn't hurt. All of that, plus the other phone features, is powered by the Snapdragon 865 5G. So this will definitely be a 5G phone.
