The HONOR MagicBook Pro offers compelling hardware specs, mixed with stunning design, and a fair price tag.
The HONOR MagicBook Pro was one of HONOR’s IFA 2020 announcements, and it deserved one of our Best of IFA 2020 awards. The MagicBook Pro is the most powerful laptop that the company announced during the show. It not only packs in extremely powerful internals, but it looks really sleek on top of that. This is supposed to be HONOR’s alternative to Apple’s MacBooks, essentially.
We’ll talk more about the device’s design and internals in a second, but before we get down to that it’s worth noting that it comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows 10. This laptop is powered by AMD’s Ryzen 5 4600H processor, and it will be available to purchase in just a couple of days.
Premium materials & thin profile
The HONOR MagicBook Pro is made out of metal, aluminum, to be more accurate. The laptop features dual fans and dual heat pipes. Its enhanced cooling system produces 20-percent more airflow than your traditional cooling fans, says HONOR. The company also says that its thermal design effectively dissipates heat while ensuring minimal noise.
This laptop is only 16.9mm thick, which basically puts it in the ultrabook category, even in that regard. It weighs 1.7 grams, so it’s fairly easy to carry around. The HONOR MagicBook Pro does come in one color option only, but it’s the nice-looking Space Gray option, not many people will have objections towards it. HONOR refers to the design of this laptop as “X-Yacht” design, by the way.
Powerful internals, fast charging
The HONOR MagicBook Pro is fueled by the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor. That chip comes with integrated Radeon graphics, 6 cores, and 12 threads. To back that all up, the company also included an ultra-fast 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD storage drive, and 16GB DDR4 dual-channel RAM. Just looking at these specs makes you realize this is one extremely powerful machine.
A 16.1-inch FullView display is also included, and the device offers a 90-percent screen-to-body ratio. This is basically a 16.1-inch laptop which comes in a 15-inch form factor. Its bezels are 4.9mm thick, which is quite thin. On top of everything, fast charging is also included here. The device comes with a 65W fast charging. It will be able to charge this battery from zero to 50-percent in just a half an hour, which is great for a laptop.
The HONOR MagicBook Pro includes plenty of ports, to make you extremely productive. There is a single HDMI 2.0 port, along with three USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Type A) ports. A single USB Type-C port is included, along with an audio port (3.5mm). Bluetooth 5.0 is packed inside, as is a fingerprint scanner to make everything extra secure. This laptop offers all that for €899.99 in Europe, by the way. All this in combination makes the HONOR MagicBook Pro very deserving of the Best of IFA 2020 award.
