Before we get down to it, do note that the phones will not be going to the US, at least for the time being. ASUS did not mention anything about them being available in the US.
The ASUS ZenFone 6, a predecessor to these two handsets, did launch in the US last year. That gives us some hope that these two phones will make their way to the States eventually.
The ASUS ZenFone 7 & 7 Pro launch globally with appealing price tags
That being said, the vanilla ASUS ZenFone 7 is priced at €699 in Europe. The ASUS ZenFone 7 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a price tag of €799. These two handsets are here to compete with the OnePlus 8, pretty much.
The regular ASUS ZenFone 7 comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The ‘Pro’ variant includes 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. There are no additional models available.
This is not the only difference between the two devices. Their SoC is different, and there are also some differences in the camera department. The ASUS ZenFone 7 comes with the regular Snapdragon 865, while the ‘Pro’ model includes the Snapdragon 865 Plus.
Only the ‘Pro’ model offers OIS on two of its cameras
The ASUS ZenFone 7 Pro also includes OIS for its main and telephoto lenses. The ZenFone 7, on the other hand, does not. So, if you want to get absolutely the best out of the cameras, you should consider getting the ‘Pro’ unit.
Other than the OIS difference, the camera setups are the same. These two phones are actually the same in every other way. They do look the same, plus the rest of their specs are identical.
Both devices are made out of metal and glass, and feature flat displays. A side-facing fingerprint scanner sits on both phones, while the flip camera module sits on the back of the two devices.
When you switch to the selfie camera mode within the camera app, that camera module will flip up, allowing you to use all three cameras as your selfie shooters.
The ASUS ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro may end up being quite appealing phones mainly due to their price tag, interesting camera module, and no notches or display holes.
These two devices certainly have a lot to offer, and probably offer the best selfie cameras on the market. The two devices will probably reach more markets in the coming weeks / months. We’re just not sure if one of those markets will be the US.
