Google has officially announced the Pixel 4a on August 3 and it went on sale starting August 20. The company is also continuing its partnership with uBreakiFix to offer authorized repairs for the Pixel 4a smartphone, according to 9to5google. More importantly, it will be able to provide same-day repairs for its new budget smartphone from day one.
Unlike the flagship Pixel smartphones which come with glass back design, the Pixel 4a with a plastic body is less prone to damage. Nevertheless, the 5.81-inch AMOLED display may still shatter from the drops even though it sports Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
uBreakiFix to repair Pixel 4a on the same day in the US
The Pixel 4a owners can have their smartphones repaired at any of the uBreakiFix's 550+ locations. After months of delay, Google launched the Pixel 4a in the US in early August. This long delay might have allowed uBreakiFix to provide same-day repairs for the Pixel 4a from day one.
Prior to this, its also the primary authorized service partner for previous Pixel smartphones starting with the original Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the company is also taking extra measures to keep the devices disinfected.
The users can carry their device to the nearest uBreakiFix location or opt for the mail-in service. All the devices sent to uBreakiFix will be sanitized when they receive it for repair and before returning it to customers. It carries out both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repairs for the new Pixel 4a.
The AMOLED display will cost $140 to replace
The punch-hole AMOLED display on the front will cost an estimated $140 to repair. Interestingly, even the plastic back cover also costs $140 to replace. However, all the in-warranty repairs will be done for free.
In the long run, the Pixel 4a users can get the 3,140mAh battery replaced for $100 to get the same battery life as on a new device. It comes only in a single storage option with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The Pixel 4a comes with a price tag of $349 in the US and went on sale starting August 20. As of now, the device is available only in Black color option. Back in April this year, uBreakiFix and Google partnered to offer free repairs for first responders and healthcare workers using the Pixel smartphones.
It includes any repair for the Pixel smartphones including screen damage, battery replacements, and camera issues. Even liquid damage also included in some cases.
